VIDEO TAPE LIBRARY SYSTEM

Minimum system requirements :
(1) IBM PC or true Compatible.
(2) 1 floppy disk; Hard disk recommended.
(3) CGA or EGA Adaptor.
(4) 80 column color monitor.
(5) IBM or EPSON compatible printer.
(6) 128k memory.
The VIDEO TAPE LIBRARY SYSTEM is a program that will make
cataloging and indexing your home video tapes enjoyable and easy.
USING THE PROGRAM :
Make sure the following files exist in the directory that
the VTL System is started from:
1.Vtl1.bas
2.Vtl2.bas
3.Vtl3.bas
4.Tapes.dta (created on first use of program)
These files comprise some of the menu screens that the VTL
System uses. In addition, the following files, though optional,
will enhance the utility of the Library.
1.Movies.dta
2.Movies.srt
These files make up the review feature of the Library and can
be created using the MOVIES.EXE program.
Enter "VIDEO" from the DOS prompt.The main Video Tape LIbrary
menu will appear.Initially , choose option "C" to add the first
tape into the library.The 'Add New Tape To Library' option
creates another pre-formatted record to the"Tapes.dta"file.
Answer the questions regarding the status of the tape number that
you are adding.'Reserved" tape only means that this tape will not
be included in the search for blank tape time.
Adding Titles:
--------------
Choose option 'B' from main menu.
Enter the number of the tape that you wish to add or change
titles.The catalogued image of the tape will be printed on the
display.Choose the program number of the title that you want to
change.At the bottom of the screen are the function key
assignments.
F1....Save
F2....Erase
F3....Cancel
F4....Insert
F5....Delete
F6....Review
F1....Save. The save key will store your changes for the
particular tape number in the Tapes.dta file.
F2....Erase. The erase function will erase from the program
number line the title, date, and cat fields only
F3....Cancel. The cancel key will interrupt the program and
return to DOS.
F4....Insert. The Insert key will push down one program line from
the program number selected.
F5....Delete. The Delete key will completely erase a program from
the tape index and push up all the rest of the programs below it.
F6....Review. The Review key will search throgh the review file
for the title that is currently selected and print on the screen
the review for that selection.
Search For Blank Tape:
----------------------
Choose option 'D' from the main menu.
This function will search through the entire library for an
available section of blank tape.
It will find a blank section based on tape speed, (ie.SP,LP,EP),
and time in minutes.
The tapes marked 'RESERVED' will not be included in this search.
Displaying Titles:
------------------
Choose option 'A' from the main menu.
Using this option allows displaying of all or selected data
from the Library.You may print this data on the screen or on the
printer.
There are two formats used for printing.The page format prints
the complete tape index,five tapes to the page.
The Titles format prints a continuous listing of the titles
only,sorted by name and date,and is suitable for use as an index
for the library.
All catalogued entries can also be sorted by type.(ie. tv,movies, ect).
